About Us Qualifications
Our staff is there to assist with any behaviorial issues that people who live with parrots might experience. We are not avian veterinarians, but we will refer our clients to qualified avian veterinarians should we see something we feel is of concern. Laurie Baker has over 20 years experience with exotic birds. She holds a Ornithology certificate from Cornell University and a B.S. is in business management from St. Mary's College. And has recieved a Certificate of Excellance Professional level-Living & Learning with Animals through Behaviorworks. In 2012 she will complete her studies in Animal Behavior Technology; speciality parrots to recieve her advanced degree. She takes every opportunity to expand her knowledge so that this knowledge can be shared with her clients. She has also co-authored a book called "The Essential Cockatoo" which was released in late 2008. Laurie has had many articles published in national magazines and has spoken to groups on a national level. Her activities within the Avicultural community have taken her to Loro Parque, Tenerife, Spain, and several projects in Brazil. She is a N. CA State Coorinator for the American Federation of Aviculture. And CEO of the non-profit 'For the Love of Nico' aka. CHRP. Memberships include the International Assiciation of Avian Trainers & Educators and International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants. Also, life memberships with American Federation of Aviculture and the World Parrot Trust. Andrea joined us in December, 2006, she has a feathered family tha includes a Patagonian Conure, a double-yellow headed Amazon, a white-eyed conure, a greencheek conure, plus a few others. Her background is in pre-school teaching. Lynn has had over 15 years experience with parrots, including time spent being employed at a veterinarian's office. She joined the team several years ago.
