When you walk into Laurie Baker's bird exclusive shop, the sign behind the register says it all:  "Owned and operated for the well being of our feathered companions." 

Her passion for birds and concern for their conservation and treatment was the concept behind the creation of Feathered Follies in 1993.  Starting as a small home-based breeding operation it has grown to an operation of over 3,000 square feet on the main street of Lafayette, California.  The goal has always been and will continue to be, quality, education, and service.

As part of her desire to share knowledge and learn more herself, Laurie has spoken at numerous bird clubs in Northern California and also the Pet Bird Report Convention, Oakland California in October 2000.  Additionally, her articles have been published in several magazines and newsletters on both the local and national level.  Also, Laurie has co-authored a book that is currently in the final stages before publishing called "The Essential Cockatoo".

Folks in the community have voted the shop "Best if the East Bay - Pet Shop" twice; once in 1999 and again in 2006.
